Sighthound Clinical Canine Massage Workshop

Shustoke Village Hall, B46 2AX

Saturday 2nd May - 11.10am - Booking Required

Learn Clinical Canine Massage Skills with Your Sighthound

Sam from Thinking and Feeling Clinical Canine Massage will be joining us at Insight Hounds to guide you through how to safely and confidently massage your own sighthound.

Sam is a Clinical Canine Massage therapist who not only works hands-on with dogs, but also trains others to become therapists themselves. She has extensive experience working with sighthounds, including her own greyhounds Elle and Sirius, who are part of our membership, and she also works with Izzy and Freddie.

I attended this workshop with Sam myself, and it’s something I still come back to and use regularly, especially with Izzy. It’s brilliant for noticing small changes early, supporting their bodies, and it’s also a really lovely way to spend quality time together.

What this workshop is all about

This first mini workshop is designed to give you the foundations of how to massage your dog safely and correctly at home.

As Sam explains, this isn’t just about learning techniques.

You’ll be working with your dog’s individual personality to find the right approach for them, building trust and strengthening your bond through the conversation of touch.

You’ll also learn how to recognise signs of discomfort or pain, and what steps to take if you notice changes.

What you’ll be learning

• Foundations of Swedish massage techniques used in canine therapy
• How massage supports relaxation, circulation, and the nervous system
• How to help lower stress and support relaxation hormones
• How to recognise early signs of discomfort or pain
• How to adapt your approach to suit your individual dog

Swedish massage is a gentle but effective approach that can help your dog relax deeply, while also supporting their physical wellbeing.

It’s also a really lovely way to spend quality time together and build connection in a calm, supportive way.
