1-2-1 Training
Would you like individual support for your sighthound?
Gain tailored, sighthound-specific support so you can understand what is happening and know where to begin.
Tailored insight to make a difference
One-to-one training gives us the space to focus on exactly what you and your sighthound need.
Perhaps you are struggling with a particular challenge, feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice or simply want to make sure you are starting in the right place.
At Insight Hounds, I work exclusively with sighthounds and specialise in ex-racing greyhounds. The support is designed around your dog’s individual history, personality, emotions and needs.
If any of these sound familiar…
You have recently welcomed a sighthound and want to get things right from the beginning
You feel unsure about what your dog needs or where to start
You feel overwhelmed by conflicting advice online
Generic dog training advice does not seem to fit your sighthound
You have tried different approaches, but something still is not clicking
Your dog responds well sometimes, but the skills do not transfer into everyday life
You want to understand why something is happening, not simply be told what to do
You have ex racing greyhound, galgo or ex coursing dog and want training that considers how we support them adjust to pet life.
You would value a clear plan and individual support as you put it into practice
Whether this is a new challenge or something you have been working on for a while, we will focus on what your dog needs and find practical next steps together.
One-to-one training can support you with a wide range of skills, including:
• Adjusting to pet life after a racing, coursing or hunting background
• Settling into pet life and developing new routines
• Toilet training
• Confidence around unfamiliar places, people or situations
• Understanding sighthound body language and subtle signals
• Focus, check-ins and engagement
• Recall foundations and disengagement skills
• Prey drive and becoming focused on something in the environment
• Lead walking and confidence on walks
• Freezing, stopping or feeling overwhelmed outdoors
• Settle skills and learning to switch off
• Preparing for new experiences or changes
• Practical everyday training skills
• Understanding how emotions affect behaviour and learning
• And much more.
Your sessions will focus on what is relevant to your individual dog, rather than trying to cover a list of skills.
How does a one off session work in practice?
We begin by talking through what you and your dog are experiencing.
We consider your dog’s history, environment, body language and emotional response, as well as what you have already tried and what you would like everyday life to look like.
From there, we agree realistic priorities and introduce practical training that suits you and your dog.
My role is to coach and support you, helping you understand what to look for, when to adjust and how to practise the skills in everyday life.
A one-off online session may suit you if you:
• Have one particular question or challenge
• Feel unsure about where to begin
• Need help reviewing your current approach
• Would like clear and practical next steps
One-hour 1-2-1 online session: £75
Autumn Special Offer: One-hour 1-2-1 online session: £60
Looking for longer-term or in-person support?
One-to-one packages are also available if you need support with a more involved challenge or several areas.
Packages give us time to introduce skills, allow you to practise, review your progress and adjust your training plan as your dog develops. They can also include support between sessions.
I also offer in-person one-to-one sessions in and around Shustoke, near Shustoke Village Hall.
Please contact me directly to discuss package options, in-person sessions and the most suitable support for you and your dog.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No.
Even in my in person classes, I’m not the one training your dog. I’m coaching you. That’s because long term progress comes from you understanding what to look for, how to adjust and how to read your own dog.
Online works in the same way.

Do I need this training or a behaviourist?
I can offer a wide range of training support.
If your dog is experiencing more complex behavioural concerns, such as significant fear, aggression or anxiety that feels beyond foundation work, a clinical behaviourist may be the right first step. I can always signpost appropriately if that’s the case.
If you’re unsure, get in touch. We can have a quick chat and work out what level of support is right for you and your dog

Hi - I’m Clare
Here at Insight Hounds, we work with all sighthounds, specialising in ex-racing greyhounds. Many of the dogs I work with are adopted, each with their own history, personality, and needs. Whether your sighthound is newly adopted or has been part of your family for years, I’m here to help you build confidence, communication, and connection together.
I started Insight Hounds because I know firsthand how incredible, sensitive, and unique these dogs are. Sighthounds don’t fit into a one-size-fits-all approach to training, they think differently, learn differently, and need training that truly understands them.
My goal is to help families understand, communicate, and connect with their sighthounds using kind, science-based training that builds confidence for both dogs and humans. Whether it’s helping an ex-racer settle into home life, working on recall, loose lead walking, or confidence-building, I tailor training to your dog’s needs and your lifestyle.
No sighthound is ever too old to learn. Whether it’s your first or your fourteenth, every dog is unique, and we’re here to help every step of the way.
